Chapter 2

As she shifted from one foot to the other, Samantha started biting her nails. Anxiety attached to her heart. Her hands began becoming clammy and sweaty. She had a hard time determining what to say next.

Instead of replying right away, she listened to Marcus and what he had to say.

"I believe that I am the one for you," Marcus blurted out, his smile gentle and reassuring.

He wanted to give Samantha a chance to trust him, not allowing anything to get in their way.

"I don't know," Samantha whispered, as tears started streaming down her face again. "But you've been there for me ever since we found out that both my mate and your girlfriend were cheating on us."

Marcus gently placed his palm on her cheek, wiping away her tears. "Why don't we go lay down?" he suggested, taking her left hand.

She paused, contemplating the implications of his suggestion.

Samantha took a deep breath and said firmly, "You better not do anything. I'm trusting you." She was not ready to give her heart once again after Christopher had broken it into pieces.

However, one day it can be fixed, but not without trials and tribulations.

Carefully, Marcus led her to one of the spare bedrooms in the pack house. Upon opening the door, Samantha's face dropped in shock, she did not believe her eyes and if what she was observing was real.

The room was huge, and it had so many beautiful decorations lying around. It was filled with the most beautiful tapestries, and trinkets.

"Marcus, I never knew this room was here before. How did you find it?" she asked him while scanning the room with curiosity.

Samantha wanted to understand how he found the secret room in the pack house.

Marcus took a moment to think about how he would respond to the question. Right before he answered her question, he squinted his eyes. He thought of a response that would hopefully make her happy.

"Well, when the whole pack arrived here together, I decided to break away from the group. I wanted to find the perfect room for us before anybody took it." He whispered in her ear.

As he said those words, Samantha started to smile. "The Alpha has never done anything like this for me before. I am glad that you are here with me." She told Marcus as they walked further into the room.

Samantha followed him, reveling in his comforting and attentive presence. She had never felt such warmth coming from her mate, and now that she was with Marcus, Samantha did not want to go back to Christopher.

Although she was mated to the Alpha King, she felt a pull toward Marcus. Her heart and head were in a battle. On the one hand, what she was feeling for Marcus was more than what she felt for Christopher. However, her head was telling her to stay with her true mate.

Marcus peered at Samantha's eyes, as they started to change from green to blue. Leaning toward her, he placed a comforting hand on her leg. "What is wrong? Why are you thinking a lot?" He asked, hoping to receive insight in her head.

Right after he questioned her, she rapidly changed her eyes back to her natural eye color. Then she answered him, "It is nothing. Don't worry about it."

Samantha still kept her heart guarded, afraid that if she allowed him in, he would reject her.

Just as they were about to get comfortable on the bed, there was a sudden knock on the door.

"Who is that knocking on the door?" Marcus asked as he looked into Samantha's eyes.

She shrugged her shoulders and replied, "I don't know who that could be. Maybe it is one of the pack members in need of help?"

"You could be right. But we won't find out unless we open the door." Marcus told her while crossing his arms.

Samantha nodded, ready to see who was on the other side of the door. "Are you going to open it, or should I? She asked, unsure of who should confront the person on the other side.

Marcus took a deep breath, and declared, "Samantha, I will go and open the door, and you can walk right behind me. That is only if you want to."

"Alright, I will follow you." She whispered in his ear, as she rubbed his back.

With a slight nod, they started inching closer to the door. Once closer, Marcus gradually reached his hand out and turned the door knob.

As it creaked open, Samantha's eyes widened. "Christopher! What are you doing here?" She asked.

The Alpha King began crossing his arms. His eyes started slanting and he bared his teeth. "Samantha! You know that you are supposed to be with Marcus!" Christopher growled.

As those words left her mouth, she shrieked. "How could you do this to me!? I know that you cheated on me, and now you won't allow me to have some alone time with someone!"

After those words left her mouth, tears started to form in her eyes. Marcus pushed her behind him, ready to defend her.

"I know you are the Alpha King, but your relationship is not what it seems. I also know that you have cheated on Samantha with my girlfriend." He declared as his fangs started to grow out of his mouth.

Just as Christopher and Marcus were about to fight, Abigail pushed through Samantha's mind. "STOP!!!" She growled, and with enormous strength pushed them to different sides of the room.

Slam. Christopher ended up in the wall on the left side of the room, while Marcus slammed into the bed. They looked up in astonishment. How was she able to do that? They thought to themselves.

No one had ever done that before. While Alexandra was eating, her ears perked up at the commotion. "What was that?"
