Mathew POV.
I'm moving in, I'm gonna be strong, I won't cry, I won't start any trouble, so what if mom died, everyone's die. I knew she's human she's die eventually, but she was young, hardly in her thirties, she wasn't supposed to die yet.
It was an accident, I wasn't there, she was on her way to work, nothing too special, it was just another day, until she got in her car and drove off to work. A drunk driver hit her, she didn't survive the crash while the fucker who's a werewolf walked out, no problem. It's me who was left motherless, I always stayed with my mother since she was a teen mom, she didn't care raising me, vampire and all.
I knew who my father was, I was invited over to his cover many times but I wanted to stay with mom, dad doesn't stay in the coven either, he's more of a traveler, but the coven doesn't mind taking me in.
They pay for my living with mom, I'm part of the family, even if I never stayed with them, they paid mom to take good care of me, they sent us blood money for me.
But now I was out of option, mom died, I'll have to stay with my own kind, I'm a baby compared to all of them, only seventeen years old to their centuries, I don't have to worry about a car accident, it would never kill me, I'm an immortal just like them.
I was meant to go to their place now, they live in a different part of the country, I lived in the mixed area since mom was human, but now I'll have to live in the vampire district, go to a mixed school. Well at least that haven't changed, school is school, there's human bullies and supernatural bullies, the vampires were never nice to me since I'm a half breed.
Well it's very rare to find a pure blood one, half breeds are very common, not just half human, I knew someone who was half fey, he was not someone to be messed with, especially with his bad temper. But me being only a half human, kids at school tended to make fun of me, in other words I was bullied before but I never really cared, it never got in my face of living a happy life.
The airplane ticket were sent to me, along with a very generous check for mom's funeral, and another one from my father in case I needed something. Mom funeral happened yesterday, today is the day I move in, I'm enrolled in the new school, my room is all set for me, I just had to show up.
Knowing nothing about vampire etiquette, and what should be done in a new house, dad pleaded for my case, all vampires need to swear an oath to the master of the family, also known as the lord, each family got one, the stronger your lord is, the higher your place in the community is.
From what I heard, well the rumors and google search James is one of the badest out there, he's a cold hearted monster if what I've read was correct. I now belong to him, well to his family, messing with him isn't a wise choice on anyone's side, I don't think belonging to him would end the bullying, but between other vampires, I have a good family name.
I looked one last time at my house, the place we've been staying in since the day I was born, it belongs to my mother, a gift from dad to her for keeping me. But now it feels like a sad place, every corner held memories of her, I wiped my tears one last time and got ready for the plane ride.
I didn't have a car, I called a cab, thanks dad for the money, it was broad daylight, vampires don't die in the sun, some of us have a very pretty sun tan, not me, well I don't look like most other vampires.
My skin is very fair, I'm short compared to fully grown vampires who are giants, dad included, I have fangs, but being only seventeen, I prefer to keep them hidden. It's like comparing baby teeth to ones of a lion, not so good for my self—confidence.
I'm also thin, although I ear both blood and human food, I never seem to be able to pack weight, or muscles or anything, if dad's intel were correct, I'd hit vampires puberty in a century or two. I'd gain some muscles and weight, my fangs would be bigger, but don't expect anything drastic, maybe your mate would be the dominant of the relation. Those were my father words, great words to hear from your own father, good thing I never asked for the bird and pees conversation.
The whole journey over to their place wasn't that long, just a two hour one, I nodded off during it, I haven't slept since the day mom died, I'm exhausted, but it seems like I had few more tears to shed.
