CHLOE VOLKOV
Staring myself through the mirror and I could not stopped admiring myself. This beautiful dress that perfectly rhyme with me. I don’t know what to feel right now but I could hardly hear my heart thumping loud as it can be. It was deafening me.
I inhaled deeply and I could feel the rhythm of my chest. When the curtains lifted I could see the guests and they’re all staring at me. Silence were deafening my ears not until the organizer waved their hand to play the music.
As I arrived in front of the crowd all were silent and as my smile also slowly melted when I noticed that it was taking too long for us to start.
I tried to look around but I didn’t see my groom, but my eyes turned narrow after seeing the maid who was running through the aisle.
“Milady” then she exhaled heavily. “The groom ran away after getting all the dowry.”
My brows furrowed and tried to look around and didn’t see him. I held her up and tightly moved closer to her. “Are you sure on this? You are ruining the ceremony!”
The maid only nodded her head and the crowd started to whisper to one another. I let go of her violently and tightened my fist as I was look stupid waiting for a runaway groom.
I removed all the accessories that I had and the head dress just I threw away on the ground and hardly stepped on it.
Who would ever love a she-wolf like me? I might be from one of the richest family and powerful ones that we even have the control of maritime transportation, yet among any others in our blood line I am the only one who has no wolf.
“The groom must have marry her for money.”
“Pity on her but who will marry a she-wolf who had no wolf?”
“Can you imagine her father even put a huge dowry on the table just someone to marry his daughter?”
I could hear all of them, and making gossips right behind my back was making me angrier. I tightened my fist but my father was just in time before I could even crack their bones. I swiftly tore the hem of my dress to go after Dame but someone spoke from behind and that made me stop and turned around.
“You have nothing to prove to anyone.” my father said.
He’s a pirate, a vigorous and powerful man in our pack. One look of him made the crowd stopped from making gossips about me and slowly the guests went out from the venue.
My father looked at me and let out a heavy sighed before he turned his back on me, and I knew with that look that I am a disappointment to the family which I admitted to myself.
Tears suddenly well on my eyes and I sniffed silently just to stop myself from sobbing because my father hated whenever I cry in front of him. My chest was pounding and all the anger was pouring out inside of my head and so, I clenched my fist and saw my aunt was walking toward my direction.
“My dear, you don’t have to worry.”
Her voice was calm and soft, she’s an ideal she-wolf and I knew that many were trying their best to get her love but the only Prince of Silvermoon pack made her heart beat twice and faster than any other man.
“Aunt Eleanor, thank you for being there to me.” I said and hugged her even tighter.
My aunt was the only one who treated me like her real daughter and I couldn’t blame my father for treating me cold and zero care at all on me. I’m just a useless she-wolf.
This is the fifth time that I failed my engagement and I understand my father why he treated me cold. He just want me to be in a better future of my bloodline.
That’s why I never believed in ‘mate’ thing because my father arranged al my wedding and offering all the huge dowry for a man with noble blood who could marry me.
Now, hearing the sound of the birds made me feel calm and as the moonlight damped on my skin.
“Why I can’t be just everyone else? A normal she-wolf that has a wolf.”
I sighed and looked around the surroundings when suddenly someone made my eyes narrowed across the river.
My heart started to pound loudly once again and since I am all alone now, I get to have a chance to talk to him about him running away from the engagement.
“Why can’t you just be a man?!” I bravely shouted behind him and my fist were ready to hit on the face.
“How dare you leave me there alone?!” I added.
My eyes widened as he turned around to see me. I could not even utter any words and my eyes just pinned on him. His eyes were in deep blue like it was reflecting the ocean. The calmness on him as visible already on his face.
Then, the wind blew and felt the breezy from within that made y wolf be awaken. This was my first time and I could not believe that it was happening to me right now.
“You have to be careful next time.” he said.
I froze the moment I heard his voice. It was calm just like her appearance. I wanted to say something but it felt like a mute while I was just staring at him. But, I noticed that he was smirking at me and that made me shook my head.
I suddenly rolled my eyes on him as it felt like he’s being boastful right now. I felt it and the sensation was also making me unease as if I wanted to be with him.
‘Ridiculous!’ I said internally and rolled my eyes on him. I should not trust him because he’s a stranger. I let out a heavy sigh and went back to my pack.
