The suite on the Bund was already warm with the smell of sex.

Sophia lay on her back beneath Victor Voss, thighs locked around his waist as he drove into her with deep, practiced strokes. The sheets were a wreck. Her nails left red lines across his shoulders. Outside the floor-to-ceiling windows, Shanghai glittered like it approved of every filthy secret they were keeping.

“Harder,” she breathed.

Victor gave it to her. He gripped her hips, pulled her tighter against him, and fucked her with the kind of focused hunger that came from two years of learning exactly how she liked to be ruined. He knew when to grind deep. He knew when to snap his hips and make her gasp. He knew how to keep her on the edge until she was shaking.

Sophia came first, a broken moan tearing from her throat as her body clenched around him. Victor followed moments later, burying himself to the hilt and spilling inside her with a low, rough sound.

For a while the only noise in the suite was their breathing.

Victor eventually rolled onto his side, one arm still heavy across her waist. Sophia stared at the ceiling, the pleasant ache between her legs already fading into something colder.

“She’s going to notice one day,” she said.

Victor didn’t pretend to misunderstand. “Elena stopped noticing a long time ago. That’s what makes her perfect. She sets the table. She waits. She smiles for the cameras. And then she goes to bed alone.”

Sophia turned her head on the pillow. “And Damien?”

Victor’s mouth curved. “Your ex-husband is too busy building empires and destroying smaller men to care where you put your body at night. He never looked at you the way I do. He only ever wanted the idea of a wife. I want the real thing.”

He moved over her again, already hardening. Sophia’s breath caught as he pushed back inside her in one slow, deep stroke.

“Besides,” he murmured against her throat, “I have what I actually want.”

He began to move again — unhurried this time, thorough, the kind of rhythm that said they still had hours before either of them had to return to their real lives.

Across the sea, in Hong Kong, Elena Voss sat alone at a long dining table set for two.

The sea bass had gone cold. The wine remained unopened. Victor’s message from three hours earlier still glowed on her phone:

*Delayed in Shanghai. Don’t wait up.*

She had stopped waiting months ago. She still set the table anyway.

The house on The Peak was beautiful, silent, and far too large for one person. Elena rose, scraped the untouched food into the bin, and walked through rooms that no longer felt like they belonged to anyone. In the bedroom she changed into a silk nightgown and sat on the edge of the mattress for a long time, hands folded in her lap.

She did not cry.

She had run out of tears for a man who had already replaced her.

In a different penthouse, higher on Victoria Peak, Damien Blackwood stood at a wall of glass with a private investigator’s report open behind him.

Two years of photographs. Sophia in Victor’s bed. Victor’s hands on her body. The same hotels. The same yacht. The same careful secrecy.

Damien felt no heartbreak.

Only cold, precise rage — and the beginning of a far more elegant idea.

He turned to the final photograph in the file.

Elena Voss.

Graceful. Composed. Standing beside her husband with the quiet posture of a woman who had learned to disappear while remaining in plain sight. There was something starved in the stillness of her face. Something untouched.

Damien studied her for a long time.

In the privacy of his mind the thoughts that formed were already dark and detailed. He imagined peeling that careful composure away layer by layer. He imagined the first soft, shocked sound she would make when he finally pushed inside her — not with violence, but with the kind of slow, relentless intensity that would leave her shaking and unable to pretend she felt nothing. He would take his time with her. He would learn every place that made her breath break. He would make her come apart under him until the only name she remembered was his.

Victor had taken Sophia.

Damien would take Elena.

He closed the report.

Outside, Hong Kong glittered like it had no idea what was coming.

His phone lit up with a single message from his head of security:

**Victor and Sophia confirmed for the Chen Foundation gala in eleven days.**

Damien finished his whisky in one swallow.

Eleven days.

The first move had not yet been made.

But someone was already going to lose everything.

And for the first time in years, Damien Blackwood was looking forward to it.
