Happy Birthday:

The lights danced across the floor, shimmering off of people's bodies as they danced. The dj's setting the mood with disco lights as he blasted a remix of something very old with something very new; making himself feel upcoming. June shook her head as she leaned back against the counter of the bar. The heat coming off the dance floor she could feel from there. It was a little overwhelming but there was a hint of excitement. She watched Krystal dance and laugh trying to persuade her to come out on the dance floor. June shook her head with a firm no look on her face. She glanced at the clock five minutes exactly. In five minutes she would be eighteen. All female wolves are excited for the moment they turn eighteen. They think it's when they will find their mate like he appears out of thin air. She felt nervous and almost scared. What if he was some unbearable troll. She turned to look at the bar, she had barely had any alcohol but a shot of alcohol sounded like a good idea. Maybe she could convince the bartender to let her have one. The club was for werewolves exclusively so there was a high chance she would meet her mate tonight. Krystal kept going on and on about how this was the perfect plan. She could feel her skin heating up as she thought more and more about it.

"Hey Darling you ok?" His voice was deep and immediately made her heart flutter.

She had been staring at the bar top for however long now. She brought her eyes slowly to meet his and she dove into them. They were deep like the ocean and the same in color. His hair was the darkest shade of night and was tousled just slightly. Like he put in just enough effort to care. She felt a shiver run over her body as she tried to find her voice to answer him. He smelt amazing like cedar and rain, warm yet exciting.

"I..uh i'm-" she looked over his head and saw that it was one minute before midnight.

"Way too gorgeous to look so worried. What's your name?" He asked, setting down the glass he was holding and leaning across the counter, way too close.

"June." She said her voice betrays her and sounded like she whispered.

"My favorite season is summer." He whispered his hand just inches from hers.

"Alright ladies and gents it is midnight! We just heard that we need to give a birthday shout to June! June, where are you!" The Dj's voice came over the speaker.

June cringed internally and tried to shrink away. God she hoped Krystal didn't come drag her away. She was searching for a way to escape.

"June! Come let's get her out here. June! June!" The Dj began a chant as the crowd began looking around.

She pulled back from the bar counter panic across face. She was going to leave just to make a quick dash for the exit and no one would even see her. She was almost on her way to escape when a hand caught her. Electricity shot through her, the hand touching her caused her body to react in ways she had never felt. She followed the strong hand back to its owner. A charming smile was across his face, the bartender somehow ended up on her side of the bar and was holding her hand. She panicked as he was going to turn her in. The panic was a strange feeling, she wanted to freak out but the sensation coming from this stranger was making her completely calm.

"This way, come on, I know somewhere you can hide." He smiled at her and then began quickly leading her away from the chanting, dancing mob.

He led her down a long hallway, she kept glancing over her shoulder accepting a mod of people to come running after her yelling June! They would capture her and lead her back to the dance floor. They stopped short suddenly, the bartender grabbed a key out of his pocket letting go of her hand. As his hand left hers her heart fluttered, she didn't want him to stop touching her. She needed to have his hand back. If her wants and feelings were not so overwhelming she might question what was happening with her but she couldn't focus on it. Her mind was fixated on this tall dark and handsome stranger. He pushed the door open and nodded for her to follow her in. Echoes of voices coming down the hallway made her jump and before she knew it she was in a tiny closet space with a stranger. He quietly pulled the door closed putting a finger to his lips letting her know to be quiet. He listened and once he was sure they were gone he let out a small chuckle. His chuckle sent tingles through her, she stared at him trying to process all these feelings.

"What's your name?" June asked her voice just above a whisper.

"Abel." He smiled, stepping towards her, closing the distance between them.

"Abel." June said her voice suddenly became very breathy, she stepped back into the wall, the only thing that she felt was going to hold her up as her legs became jello.

"Mhmmm." He said stepping into her, there was even enough room for air between them, and June's breath caught her throat.

He smelt intoxicating, his voice was like ecstasy. She was losing herself and everything on her wanted him to touch and kiss her. She felt like she was vibrating. And then she felt it, her wolf came to life in her as she recognized Abel.

"Mate." The word fell effortlessly out of June's mouth as her eyes glowed slightly as her wolf pushed forward.

"That's right Darling, so you better start learning how to say my name." Abel said whispering back to her, his eyes glowing in response to her.

"I promise to make you say it all the time." Abel said his voice low and full of lust as he ran his finger down the side of her cheek, brushing a stray strand of her strawberry blonde hair away, tucking it behind her ear.

The small movement sent her skin on fire. She needed and wanted more of him. Her body begging him to touch her. Her heart jumped in her chest as his mouth moved for hers. His lips captured hers. Fireworks went off inside of her brian as his tongue slid into her mouth brushing and teasing her own. Chills and tingles spread over her body as her fingers entwined into his hair, keeping his mouth to hers. She wanted more, wanted to taste him. He pulled back his mouth moving to her neck, kissing and sucking on it. She felt her knees go weak, as he began to move downwards. She felt his hand begin to slide up her black dress. She froze, catching his hand. Not like this her mind yelled. She didn't want her mate to mate her and mark her in a storage closet at some bar.

'Wait...wait .wait." She whispered trying to get her brian to start thinking.

"Ok. ok '' Abel said letting his hand drop away from her tight and he braced the wall with his hands on either side of her head.

"Sorry just you smell so amazing and my wolf is going insane...he's not the only ..one." Abel said with a small smile.

He shut his taking small breaths and then leaned his forehead against hers. A small smile came across June's face. He was sweet and kind. He was going to be the perfect mate. He was understanding. She reached forward, her hand touching his cheek slightly. She couldn't help but want to touch him.

"Maybe we should go see if they are done looking for you." Abel said but couldn't help but lean into her hand.

"Yeah maybe." June whispered back, letting her hand fall from his face.

As her hand fell away from his face, he caught but his touch was different this time. It was rough and cold. She was shocked by the force of it. She narrowed her eyes at him as she went to take her hand away but he tightened his grip. He grabbed ahold of her other hand and pinned it above her head. She froze her body telling her to be afraid to run but her mind was not understanding what was happening.

"Abel?" June asked, her voice confused.

He looked at her but it was like he wasn't really there. His eyes seemed foggy like he was a different person. He was suddenly cold. He placed his hand over her mouth.

"Shh." He said and then suddenly a sound caught her ear.

Something dropped to the floor. She tried to see what it was. She tried to move but he was much stronger than her. He pinned her place using his hand. His other hand began to travel along her thigh. She tried to move away from him and suddenly her feet were kick apart. His hand finding her underwear fingers entwined around it as he yanked on them, ripping them from her skin.

"Wait, wait..please." June whispered.

"No your my mate this is what happens." Abel said but his voice didn't sound like it sounded before, there was no warmth to it, nothing but emptiness.

Pain searing pain ripped through her as she felt him in her. She tried to not think about it and tried to go numb as she felt him moving. This was not how it was supposed to be. This was not what they said mates were. Hot tears streamed down her face, as she felt pieces of herself die. She prayed it would be over. It was taking forever, seconds felt like hours. The pain was intense and then finally he stopped moving. She felt a rush of warmness and then he moved away from her. Letting her go like she was nothing. She sank to the floor wanting to be gone, wanting to be away from him. How did this happen? Why did this happen? IS this how it was with everyone? She heard him put his pants on. He stepped towards her and she tried to move away, the storage closet was so small, too small.

"Don't worry i won't touch you again. Not even to mark you." Abel said cruelly.

"What?" June asked quietly, still trying to understand everything that happened.

"You are not going to be my mate. I refuse to accept someone as disgusting as you is my mate. I won't mark you, I won't have anything to do with you. I reject you pathetic weak June." Abel said, his voice sharp and sour.

June didn't know what to say or think. Before she knew it he was gone. She searched the floor for the pieces of her underwear and left. She didn't remember getting home but she was still clutching her underwear as she rushed into her home, shaking. She collapsed into her mothers arms and told her everything.

"June I am so sorry this happened to you but we...we cant tell anyone this has happened." Emlia said.

"Mom?" June asked her, confused about her response.

"June his family has power here and if you come out with that it will ruin our reputation and yours. We will give you whatever you need but we need to keep this quiet." Henry June's dad said quietly.

"I..i can't." June said shaking in her Emlia's arms.

"Come on, let's go get you cleaned up and some rest. You'll be fine in the morning." Emila said to her, patting her back.

June didn't know what to think, her mother took her to her bedroom and left her in the darkness. The shower on and running. She went to the bathroom and cleaned herself up quickly.
