Delia's POV
I saw my wretched self in the mirror.
I needed to look perfect for the ball, that's what Grandma Sara had told me.
When I was taken to the costume room by the maid, I didn't even know what kind of attitude I was supposed to put on.
"Ma'am, this is the evening gown we have prepared for you."
The dress in front of me was a black evening gown with lustrous pearls dotted around the neckline, which looked very gorgeous.
Just when I wanted to take the dress over, a woman's voice suddenly came from the doorway.
"That's not a dress she can wear."
I looked over at the voice, and a rather elegant woman stood in the doorway, her gaze lingering on my body for only a few seconds before she blandly moved away.
"That dress has been prepared by Alpha Allen for his female companion, and it shouldn't be hers."
It wasn't supposed to be mine?
A few cold glints flashed in my gaze, and Alpha Allen's name had rolled around in my throat several times before I finally swallowed it.
It dawned on me that they didn't recognize who I was. If they had known who I was, they would not have had the guts to embarrass me so much.
"If this isn't my evening gown, then what my evening gown?"
The woman looked over at me and she gave me a fake smile, looking like she was trying very hard to appear polite to me, but I didn't like such false politeness.
Especially since I could sense her contemptuous attitude and the jealousy in her eyes as she looked over at me.
"Deliver it up." The woman turned to the maid behind her and said. The maid bowed her head and looked very timid as she handed the tray in her hand to me, which held a long, fiery red dress, similar to my hair color.
However, when my hand touched the dress, I was sure that it was a very poor quality dress.
She was more suitable for a servant than for a female Alpha.
I tossed the dress back into the tray, and the woman standing in front of me continued to have a condescending attitude; she no longer even hid such emotions and turned her head to express her displeasure directly to me.
"Ma'am, this is a rule, an order given to us by the honorable Alpha Allen, we cannot disobey, and we ask you to be considerate of us."
My gaze swept between a few of them, and other than the woman, the others didn't even dare to meet my eyes.
"Alpha Allen's request? That's quite a strange request." I said calmly, not even showing any impatience.
"The party has already started, ma'am, so please also change your clothes quickly and go keep your Alpha company, otherwise you will probably make your Alpha angry."
"I will."
After I agreed to do so, but instead of walking towards my dress, I turned towards the black one.
The woman frowned and questioned with some alarm, "What do you want to do?!"
I released my Alpha's breath, and the girl with the black dress seemed completely incapacitated, even closing her eyes in horror as I reached for her.
And I simply picked up the dress and tore it in half in front of the woman's face.
"You!" She was too angry to speak, but I simply ignored her, grabbed the red dress and left the room.
We lived in the same area, yet there were numerous leaders in the midst of this area - the Alphas. We were born strong, Moon Goddess gave us strength and wisdom, and each pack's members hoped that their Alpha would bring them happiness and honor.
But unfortunately, I did not become the Alpha of the highest status because I was not strong enough.
I was a female Alpha who had been scorned by many since birth.
After changing my clothes, I went to the hall of the ball.
As I pushed the door, my eyes darted among the crowd of the venue, and there was no purpose in such a search.
I rarely attend such grand dinners.
As I stepped into the hall, the world instantly fell silent.
"Who is she? She is so beautiful."
"I don't know; I've never seen her at another party."
I listened to the people praising my beauty, I had no inner turmoil, although as a female Alpha, I was subjected to many taunts, my face was always praised by others.
"Delia."
I heard a familiar voice, I turned my head to look at the door, Colin slowly walked towards me wearing an exquisite tuxedo, his silver-brown eyes revealed a coldness in them, releasing his powerful aura in an invisible way.
He walked up to me, took my hand in front of everyone, bowed his head slightly, made a humble and respectful face, and dropped a kiss on the back of my smooth hand.
"Sorry, Delia, I'm late."
Satisfied that this time he only called me by my name, I fingered his chest before he took the medallion, a symbol of Alpha status, out of his breast pocket and placed it on my chest for me.
"My God, he actually put his Alpha medallion on his female partner's chest."
"Can an Alpha obsessed with beauty like that lead his pack?"
"Which pack are they from?"
"They're both real conversation makers."
I could hear those people's voices.
There were jeers, questions, and even vulgar banter as the alphas looked at me and Colin like we were a joke.
And I was sick to death of these people.
Colin's POV
Time rewound to before the Alpha party officially started, Delia and I were still in a hurry. As Delia's beta, it was one of my responsibilities to ensure the Alpha's safety, but Delia insisted on choosing this shortcut.
Even if the terrain of Tal forest was really variable, the environment was humid and the climate was like moldy clothes after days of soaking in water, even walking in it, I felt my arms became sticky. Just as I was walking through the bushes and wanted to move on, this time, a sudden commotion came from the distance.
Flocks of birds suddenly flew up, they rushed to the sky, and finally all scattered.
"Colin, you're moving too slowly."
I stepped out of the darkness and saw Delia standing in front of me, "Sorry, Alpha Delia."
Hearing my words, Delia turned to look at me, "You do need to be sorry, I've told you many times to call me Delia. this time, you must remember."
I was about to speak when I saw something appear behind Delia. At this moment, I knew the distance between us couldn't be broken easily, my face suddenly changed, and the next second, Delia sensed the danger from behind her. She turned around and looked at the lion that slowly emerged from the darkness, staring at us with golden eyes, a look that looked like it saw us as its prey.
Delia crossed over to me, and she built up strength between her arms, and I could even see the veins protruding from her arms.
The lion wasn't going to wait any longer, it bared its sharp teeth and hissed in front of us, full of anger and warning.
It all happened in a flash, the lion leapt up, it reached out its front paws to Delia, I could feel the air flow, the air cut by the sharp claws, can be felt in the darkness of the night.
Delia feet off the ground in the moment, I felt my heart followed her rapid expansion, the blood flow became faster. The moment the moonlight shone on Delia's body, she turned into a wolf and pounced on the lion.
I guessed that Delia's methods would be very cruel, when she broke the lion's head, blood spurted out of the lion's neck. The bright red blood splattered half of Delia's face, Delia did not collect her killing intent, as if deliberately venting her emotions, and at that moment, the moonlight scattered to her body, as shining on the body of the lion, the world suddenly became quiet.
Delia looked back at me and said something to, lips a closed, but I did not hear.
The first time I saw Delia like this, my rapidly beating heart hadn't calmed down when I noticed the eyes that suddenly showed up behind Delia.
There was another lion!
I could not hesitate, like a lightning bolt rushed forward, before the lion's bloody mouth bit Delia's shoulder, I stuck its mouth with my arm.
The moment the teeth pierced the flesh, Delia's nervous voice fell into my ears, and the next second, the lion was kicked to the ground by her.
The force of the kick must have been considerable, the lion's internal organs must have been kicked, it could only lie on the ground weakly panting.
Delia went to the party first at my insistence, and I arrived at the hotel before meeting Mona.
Mona made sure to insist that I need to take care of my wounds, and she finally went so far as to pull out Delia's identity to force me.
"I have to hurry over, Mona, leave me alone." I deliberately made a face at her, and the woman who was two heads shorter than me took out her scepter and struck me directly on the head.
"Colin, if you don't want your wound to get infected, you better behave and get it fixed, or else Delia will help me remove your arm."
I chose to compromise because of the time crunch and Delia had to get to that pointless dinner party early.
As I arrived at the dinner, I was acutely aware of the disgusting sight that clung to Delia's body.
Delia was always surrounded by idiots.
I showed my respect and, with her permission, then looked up.
She reached out and gently tapped her finger on my chest. I took out the Alpha medallion that was in my breast pocket and helped her put it on her chest.
When I finished, I couldn't help but place my gaze on her cheek. With the close proximity, I could see her more clearly.
"Are you done with the other things?"
"Of course."
"You seem a little less efficient than you used to be." Delia wasn't angry, and even if she didn't look in a very pleasant mood, I knew it wasn't me who was the cause.
The reason was here.
As I tried to do something about it, a man with long black hair suddenly clapped his hands and stepped out of the crowd.
I could clearly sense a bad vibe on his body, and Delia always said my senses were as sharp as a dog's nose, which I never thought was a bad thing.
Then the man began to open his foul smelling mouth in front of us.
"Beauty, and the mighty Alpha."
As the man spoke of the Alpha, he turned his head to look at me.
Delia must have been able to sense my anger, but I couldn't do anything without her orders.
At least in her presence I did.
"When do you plan to return the medallion on your chest to the person to whom it belongs, my lady?"
My eyes rested on his chest, and he too had the medallion that symbolized Alpha status.
This also meant that I could only kill this man with my eyes until Delia gave the order.
I inclined my head to look at her, but she remained unresponsive.
When that Alpha saw that I didn't have any reaction, he became more excessive, "All beautiful things should be fragile, if the glass cover can't cover a beautiful rose, then that rose will wither quickly."
"If you want a rose, you have to have the ability to get it, I don't see any potential in you." Delia finally stopped keeping silent.
But it angered him just as much.
He gathered his hypocritical smile, "Sir, if I were you, I would find a way to pull out all the thorns of this rose, don't you want to see her submit to you?"
My pupils tightened up in a flash.
I didn't wait, I grabbed his wrist before his hand touched her cheek, which didn't take long. And when I grabbed him, he should have sensed my rank, so his expression became extremely shocked, as if he could not believe that he would be easily controlled by a beta.
"You're actually a beta!"
I wasn't going to give him enough time to react.
In an instant, the veins on the backs of my hands bulged, anger masked beneath my eyes, and the moment he locked eyes with me, fear drained from his gaze before he let out a terrified scream.
I swore I had only used half my strength and then, I felt his hand droop in front of me like a noodle.
He was as fragile as porcelain.
And the scream was about to poke the roof off the house. My brow furrowed and I even began to regret why I didn't just rip his mouth off at the beginning.
But now I didn't seem to have a chance to backtrack.
Delia wasn't wrong, he really didn't have any potential in him.
The next second, I heard the sound of bones breaking.
Unwilling to touch such a fool, I pushed him straight to the ground.
"You crazy bastard! You shitty beta! Do you know who I am! I'm an Alpha! I won't let you off the hook if you treat me like this."
An Alpha like a bug?
Were all the other pack's alphas as weak as this?
I remembered the scene when I fought with Delia, and became even more suspicious of his words.
I lifted my foot and stepped directly on his chest. With a little force, he was stepped on the floor, and he didn't even have the ability to break free.
"Dignity? Sorry, except for that medallion on your body, I can't see any place on your body that has the look of an Alpha, now that you know the dignity of being an Alpha, then why do you still want to offend my Alpha?" I still had a smile on my face, but I looked at him as if he was a corpse.
I loathed such a person, and if Delia had done it, I was sure she would have been able to kill him as well, but there was no point in wasting her strength for such a weakling.
"No, don't kill me-" He didn't even think about transforming into a wolf to resist. What a coward!
I thought of his disrespect for Delia and my heart filled with killing intent. I lifted my foot and tried to break his neck hard.
