Blood...that's the only thing I could focus my mind on when I looked at my surroundings...

So much blood...

Fires danced around me as our small village was burning to the ground. People Were running around frantically trying to escape the carnage, running into the forests only to be torn apart by the creatures attacking us.

I watched as men struggled to fight back against the monsters that were killing everyone on sight.

Massive wolves nearly as big as horse's were tearing apart men and women alike. Limbs were being ripped from their bodies and throats were being torn into.

All I could do was stand there, paralyzed in fear as the people I grew up with were screaming, fighting, and running for their lives. Even our warriors who were trained to kill beasts like these stood no chance.

The night was shrouded with smoke as fires raged across each building. Blood soaked the grounds as both man and monster alike were slaughtered.

Why was this happening? So many were dying on both sides...what was the point to all this bloodshed? I wish I knew...

"Seraphina!!" I looked around for the voice calling my name, and soon enough I saw my father killing off one of the giant beasts running rampant through our home. He pulled his bloodied blade from the beast's neck and started to run towards me.

I could feel tears prick the corners of my eyes. I was scared....no...terrified... I didnt want to be here anymore!

A deep growl had me looking away as a much larger wolf came out of the smokey ruins of the house across from me. Blood soaked his fur and covered his face. In his maw of sharp teeth, I could see a human arm that was detached from the owners body.

I froze in complete horror as it dropped the limp limb and stepped towards me, with its lips pulled back in a snarl. It's glowing yellow eyes were focused solely on me. The monster before me then stood up on it's hind legs. A strange necklace around the things neck stood out in the night, and a silver pendant with a ruby as red as the blood in it's fur.

I could faintly hear my father shouting my name, and the sounds of a struggle but I didnt dare look away, it was almost as if I knew, if I turned away from the monster in front of me, if my eyes strayed from his then I would die...

It walked closer snarling down at me. As I stood there paralyzed by fear. my heart was ready to beat out of my chest and my breathing quicked. I watched as its muscles tensed and it lunged towards me.

I squeezed my eyes shut and covered my head with my arms before turning away. A sharp pain raked across my back and I fell face-first into the ground. The sound of a heavy chain and a Startled yelp could be heard and I opened my eyes to see my father standing before me with a silver chain around the wolf's neck.

I could hear the sizzle as it burned into the creature's skin. It thrashed around snarling and pounced on my father, knocking him to the ground. I shakily sat up and watched, still in complete shock.

My father held onto the chain as the wolf thrashed around. He glanced back at me for only a moment, his silver eyes meeting my own, just before shouting. "Run!"

My father lost his grip on the chain and with it loosened the wolf took the chance to slip free and attack.

My father used the chain to hold back the beast as it's maw full of sharp teeth snapped, inches from his face.

I watched in horror as my father struggled to keep the monsters fangs away from his neck. "Run Seraphina! Now!!"

I flinched as father shouted at me, and snapped out of the state of shock I was in. My father had never yelled at me before...he had never raised his voice towards me or even around me...he was always so calm, and so soft spoken... But seeing him now, like this I could clearly see the panic on his face, and the fear in his own eyes.

Hesitating, I finally stood up and did exactly as he said, I ran.

Through all the bloodshed and away from the carnage, I ran from the heated fires that roared through my home, and went straight into the forest, until I could no longer see the bodies of those I once knew. Until I could no longer hear the screams of my friends being torn apart by the monsters. Until the scent of smoke and blood was replaced by the scent of pine and rain.

I fell to the wet and cold ground of the forest floor as my foot caught on something.

Shakily I sat up, on my hands and knees. The adrenaline coursing through me started to fade and everything started to set in. It was cold and dark, and now I was alone. Tears started to prick the corners of my eyes as I looked around at the forest. I felt trapped and lost... Where do I even go?

A distant howl made me jump as I looked around me franticly. The only thing around me was a cold empty forest and a full moon.

I couldn't help but sniffle as tears streaked down my face and the cold night air nipped at my skin.

I attempted to stand but my body felt heavy, and weak, as I began to shake, so I just slumpped down, laying in the dirt on my side curled up.

A choked sob escaped my lips as tears clouded my vision. "Daddy...?"

The silence of night Was the only response to my feeble cries.

I stayed there for what seemed like forever, I could feel a burning pain on my backside, and what felt like a warm liquid running from the open wound that. Now marked my skin.

I became lightheaded as all the strength left my body leaving me cold and motionless on the ground. Black dots danced across my vision as the forest all became a blur. My sobbing stopped but the tears continued to run as everything started to disappear. The last thing I remember was seeing a small light that seemed to get closer and closer. But soon enough. I became too dizzy and it felt like I was falling, as darkness swallowed me up.
